Hello! I'm Maddie and I totally have a fandom blog! I mainly blog Sherlock, Merlin, the Avengers, the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, and Doctor Who. British actors...(Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston...) Supernatural seems to also appear...
I re-blog non fandom related things too, which includes photography that I do, art and anything I find that is interesting or that makes me happy.
Michele Carragher, the head embroider on Game of Thrones, made this awesome tutorial to show how she created the dragonscale fabric that appears on several of Daenarys’ costumes in S3 and S4.
Ms. Carragher says that the dragonscale fabric was created because “In season 3 the Costume Designer Michele Clapton wanted a Dragonscale like textured embroidery that starts to emerge on three of Daenery’s costumes, which becomes heavier and more pronounced, growing and evolving as the season progresses” (Carragher).
In stages 9-11 of the tutorial we see how the textile evolves from lightly to heavily embellished. This progression is meant to illustrate Daenarys’ personal growth and the growth of her dragons (source).
Some photos of my Cersei cosplay. I used silk and lined it with organza, which felt awful but looked similar to the original. I handmade the stencil I used on the cream panels. The detailed embroidery and beadwork took me many, many hours and incorporates feathers, swarovski crystals, velvet, metal chain, and leather.
Most of my costumes are spandex/vinyl bodysuits, and I’ve never attempted a gown, let alone embroidery, so this was a real challenge for me. Overall I’m happy with it though, despite a few flaws.
The green swallowed her up. The air was rich with the scents of earth and grass, mixed with the smell of horseflesh and Dany’s sweat and the oil in her hair. Dothraki smells. They seemed to belong here. Dany breathed it all in…
My Transistor sword. :) It’s lighten up and also TALKS, like the one from the game! Hopefully I will bring you a short video to show you how it works. I’m really happy how it looks like. Big thanks for nighty for all the help she gave me while making Red’s costume! I made it out of wood, acrilic glass and plastic. Te yellow elements are made out of pleather. The triangle is made with worbla and then painted. :) How do you like it, guys?
